GreenHawk Remote Communications System is reliable and vital to recovery efforts. Wired or wireless communications, both can be devastated during a natural disaster. Hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes and tornadoes all rip lines down and crumple transmission towers like they are pieces of paper.
Quite often, each organization or agency that is committing effort to the disaster recovery will utilize incompatible communications technologies. Some use hand held radios. However, the frequency they transmit and receive on is a different frequency than another agency. And both are incompatible with satellite phones. Our remote communications systems solve this issue and more.
The GreenHawk Remote Communications System is balloon mounted. An industrial weather balloon is utilized and paired with global positioning satellite technology, as well as advanced micro electronics. Balloons are launched every 8 to 12 hours in a continuous rotation. Each balloon takes approximately 20 minutes to reach an altitude of between 60,000 and 100,000 feet (above all weather). This creates a transmission circle of coverage of +/- 400 miles (roughly the size of the State of Oklahoma). This unit has its own dedicated transmission spectrum to minimize interference and can support multiple types of devices across multiple frequencies.
